Derby registration will be cut off on Wednesday at 3 PM. 

In person registration will be available at Hell’s Canyon Grand Hotel Derby HQ

Thursday 3 – 6pm &

Friday 6 am – 8 am.

Adults (16+) – $60

  • Included 3-day admission to the Steelhead Expo.
  • 16 and older. All youth participants must be accompanied by a paid derby adult participant (18+).
  • Must have Idaho Fishing License and Steelhead Permit.

Youth (15 & under) – FREE

  • Children 15 & under are admitted free with paid adults.
  • To register youth, add a ticket to your cart and apply your discount at checkout.
  • All participants 14 and over must have a valid fishing license.

The final Day of Derby Entry online is 1/8/2026

Scales close at 3 pm. Entries must be in line with their fish by 3 pm. No late entries.
 
Winners will be announced at 4 pm at Hells Canyon Grand Hotel. Participants do not have to be present to win. Winners will be mailed checks. Belts & trophies will be available for pickup after 4 pm at Hells Canyon Grand Hotel or through coordination with Toby Wyatt.
 

Tournament

Eligible Fish: Must be caught on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday

Weigh-In Stations & Requirements

  • Fish must be weighed in by the person who caught it
  • Steelhead tag must be presented
  • Must be weighed in at the official derby weigh-in station
 
Friday: 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Saturday: 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
 
 
Friday: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

winner determination & prizes

Winners are decided by the weight of fish. Mens, Womens and Youth divisions available.

In case of a tie:

  • The length of fish will be used to determine the winner.
  • If both weight and length are the same, prize money will be split


Prizes are cumulative and are not daily prizes.

first place

$500 + 25% of division ticket sales

second place

$250 + 15% of division ticket sales

third place

$100 + 10% of division ticket sales

fishing rules

The following fish cannot be harvested during any tournament: wild trout (in any stream), Cutthroat Trout, White Sturgeon, Bull Trout, and Arctic Grayling.
 
Idaho law requires all boats, including those from out of state, must display a valid Idaho Invasive Species Sticker. All anglers recently fishing out of state must have their boats inspected at a Watercraft Inspection Station before launching in Idaho. All boaters please minimize risk of moving aquatic invasive species (AIS) by cleaning, draining, & drying all watercraft, including kayaks. New law in 2024; All water inside a vessel must be drained prior to transport including live wells. (Title 22 Chapter 1905A). Inspection stations are located on major highways near state lines.
