The Derby
Registration
King of the Confluence runs separate divisions, each with its own prize pool funded by entry fees. A percentage of ticket sales goes directly to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, so the more anglers that enter, the bigger the payout. Prizes are awarded separately for each species, meaning you can place in both chinook and steelhead.
Register online or in person at Hells Canyon Grand Hotel in Lewiston, ID. Both boat and shore fishing are permitted. Anglers ages 14 and older must have a valid fishing license.
The awards ceremony will take place at MJ Barleyhoppers at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 27.
The celebration party follows at MJ Barleyhoppers at 4:00 PM. Grab a drink, hang out with fellow anglers, and close out the derby together.
Online registration closes Friday, September 25 at 11:59 PM.

• Fish must be weighed by the person who caught it
• Valid derby tag must be presented
• Valid fishing license required, ages 14 and older
• Have your catch video ready (about 10 seconds, fish alive in the boat)
• Only hatchery fish (adipose fin clipped)
• Must be in line by close of weigh-in. No exceptions.
Fishing Rules
IDFG Tournament Permit
Idaho Fish and Game (IDFG) requires us to issue a tournament permit for the 2026 derby. A PDF copy of the permit will be emailed to every angler who purchased a ticket. Please print the permit and keep a copy with you throughout the event. IDFG requires all boats and/or anglers to have a copy of the permit in their possession while participating.
WDFW Invasive Species Forms
WDFW requires Washington anglers to complete aquatic invasive species equipment forms, if applicable to your watercraft. These forms will be available at the weigh-in stations and launch party.
We will have preprinted permits available at the launch party on Friday from 5 to 8 PM. We will also be available to assist with additional derby registrations.
General Regulations

- •Both boat and shore fishing permitted
- •Anglers ages 14 and older must have a valid fishing license. Please review your permit and the applicable Idaho fishing rules before heading out
- •Only hatchery fish eligible (adipose fin clipped)
Derby Boundaries
- •Snake & Clearwater rivers, Lewiston stretch (specific boundaries posted at registration)
- •All fish must be legally caught within derby boundaries
- •Carry your valid fishing license at all times
Derby Fish Requirements
- •All derby fish must be caught using a rod and reel
- •A video of approximately 10 seconds showing the catch of your submitted fish alive and moving in the boat must be provided
Boat & Fish Transport
- •Drain all water from your boat, including live wells, before transporting your boat
- •Do not transport live fish. It is unlawful to transport live fish without a Fish Transport Permit. All fish must be harvested prior to any off-site weigh-in
Tournament Permit Requirements
- •All boats and/or anglers must carry a copy of the tournament permit, included with your registration confirmation email
- •Tournament results must be reported within 30 days of the tournament end
- •Additional permits (Special Use or Marine Event) may be required on the body of water this event is held on. Check with the County Sheriff or water management entity prior to the event
